DIY Cotton Face Mask & Pattern

by | April 14, 2020

Looking to test your sewing skills?

We asked Hannah who heads up our product design and development team to share her quick guide and printable mask pattern with us. She is sewing masks in her spare time to donate to our community. Below are two size variations to work from. Click here to download PDF guide.

Please note: the CDC has stated that the novel coronavirus can live on fabrics for up to 24 hours. Always wash your mask before wearing with laundry detergent or disinfection agents such as hydrogen peroxide or bleach. For optimal coverage, we recommend making two cotton masks and alternating days of wear.

Mask #1:
- 3" x 7.5" finished size
- Size small, women's
- For everyday use

Mask #2:
- 4" x 9" finished size
- Size large, men's
- For donating to hospitals or essential businesses

Directions:

Design Variations:

Nose-Bridge Detail
Add a piece of wire in the nose-bridge area between the two panels.
Stitch around it to hold in place.
- Use floral or craft wire, pipe cleaner or twist tie
- 2" long

Elastic Ear Loops

Finish edge with binding. Make a loop out of 1/4" elastic and top-stitch it to the binding to create elastic ear loops instead of ties.
